It is important to note that India and Sri Lanka will co-host the World Cup 2026, which is scheduled to begin on February 7. As they compete, Sri Lanka will be hoping for some notable progress since Rathour was appointed as their batting coach.
It's interesting to note that Rathour will play for the team from January 18 to March 10. Notably, from September 2019 to July 2024, he was the batting coach for team India. At the moment, he serves as the Rajasthan Royals' head assistant coach.
Sri Lanka's World Cup campaign begins with a match against Ireland.Speaking of Sri Lankan cricket, the team is presently playing Pakistan in a Twenty20 International series. The team has a number of tasks ahead of the World Cup. Following the series against Pakistan, Sri Lanka will play England in three Twenty20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals.
The T20Is are set for January 30, February 1, and 3, while the matches are scheduled for January 22, 24, and 27. Additionally, they will play Ireland to begin their T20 World Cup campaign.
On February 8, the two teams will play at Colombo's R Premadasa Stadium. It's interesting to note that Sri Lanka, Australia, Ireland, Oman, and Zimbabwe are all in Group B of the competition. When they play Ireland, the team will be hoping for a successful start to their campaign.
