Delhi, New Delhi:A high-stakes hunt began on Sunday, February 8, after a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) complaint at Delhi's Supreme Court Metro station. Urdu slogans like "Hum Pakistani Hain, Pakistan Hamara Hai" and radical posters extolling Jaish-e-Mohammed's (JeM) Burhan Wani and yelling, "India stop genocide and Free Kashmir," appeared all over Janpath and beyond. Following leads from the preliminary footwork by Inspector Ajay Kumar's team, Delhi Police's Special Cell took over FIR Number 01/26 under sections 152/196/197 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the DPDP Act.
Multi-state raids bust sleeper networkIntelligence fused with human tips pinpointed a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) module run by Bangladesh-based Kashmiri handler Shabir Ahmad Lone. On February 15 (Sunday), Special Cell raided Majherpara, Kolkata, nabbing Umar Faruk (31, Malda, WB) and Robiul Islam (31, Bangladesh). Six days later, on February 21 (Sunday), simultaneous strikes in Tamil Nadu's Tiruppur, arrested Mohd Mizanur Rehman (32), Mohd Sefayat Hossain (34), Mohd Zahidul Islam (40), Mohd Liton (40), Mohd Uzzal (27) and Umar (32)- all Bangladeshi illegals posing with fake Indian IDs in garment factories.
Recoveries reveal a sinister scheme.Pro-Pakistan posters adorning West Bengal hideouts, ten incriminating phones, twenty-five credit/debit cards, five point-of-sale machines, and Bangladeshi passports and IDs were found during raids. Videos revealed bids for the purchase of weapons as well as reconnaissance of important Delhi locations like the Red Fort and temples. Funded by Pakistan's ISI, the cell targeted major strikes and used LeT camps to recruit illegals.
Mastermind's 26/11 connections and attempt at a comebackAfter being apprehended by Special Cell in 2007 with AK-47s and grenades (FIR 59/2007), Shabir Ahmad Lone (@Raja @Kashmiri, Kangan, Srinagar) fled Tihar to Bangladesh in 2018. According to evidence from 2007, he was trained in Muzaffarabad's Daura-e-Aam/Khaas and had a direct connection to 26/11 plotter Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi and LeT chief Hafiz Saeed. By ordering Delhi/Kolkata posters (affixed February 7-8), recce videos, arms hunts, and Tamil Nadu recruits through aide Saidul Islam, Shabir radicalized Umar in March 2025 while he was living in exile. Shabir's entry into Bangladesh was facilitated by accomplice Saidul, who also provided Tamil Nadu with intelligence.
