DhakaAfghanistan veteran Mohammad Nabi responded angrily to a question that connected him to an unrelated Indian Premier League controversy, sparking a heated exchange during a Bangladesh Premier League media encounter. The incident occurred following Noakhali Express's game against Dhaka Capitals, in which Nabi is currently playing alongside his teenage son Hassan Eisakhil.
The reporter's inquiry centered on the ongoing controversy surrounding the Bangladeshi pacer's exclusion from the Kolkata Knight Riders team prior to 2026. However, Nabi expressed obvious annoyance at being asked to comment on a matter that he felt had nothing to do with his position, his team, or his nationality. His answer immediately put an end to any further conversation and emphasized his wish to avoid dealing with administrative or political issues.
"Iska merese kya lena dena bhai. Mera Mustafizur se kya kaam hai? Me kya kaam hai mera politics? (How am I involved with it? How do I relate to Mustafizur? Politics has nothing to do with me. I am aware of his skill as a bowler, among other things. However, the questions you are asking have nothing to do with me," Nabi stated during the press conference.
The issue between Bangladesh and India is still unresolved. The incident took place in the context of increased hostility between Bangladeshi and Indian cricket authorities. In a second official letter to the ICC, the Bangladesh Cricket Board reiterated its request to move Bangladesh's matches to Sri Lanka and voiced security concerns about traveling to India for the next T20 World Cup. Bangladesh will play four matches in India as part of the global tournament, which is set to start on February 7.
